Travelling together

The travel fund app for everyone. Even those without the app.

With the travel fund app in TravelMaster Go, you can split travel costs without everyone having to install something first: fellow travellers view and add to the shared kitty via a web link, without an account or download. At the end, the app works out who owes whom. Free of charge.

Sound familiar?

Splitting travel costs is easy. Until you settle up.

Four friends, one week in a holiday cottage. Lea pays the deposit, Tim fills up the car twice, Sara covers the big supermarket run, and dinner at the harbour ends up on someone’s card. On the road, everyone says “we’ll sort it out later”. Later, you are sitting at the kitchen table with receipts, screenshots of bank transfers and a calculator – and in the end everyone sends everyone a little something.

A group kitty in an app would solve it. But not every fellow traveller wants to install yet another app and create an account for one week of holiday. That is exactly where many shared holiday funds fall apart.

How the app helps

How the travel fund works in TravelMaster Go

The travel kitty belongs to your trip – next to the day plan, bookings and documents. No copying back and forth between apps.

A web link instead of a must-have app

Fellow travellers view and add to the shared kitty via a web link, without an account or download.

Who owes whom?

The app adds up all expenses and suggests as few settlement payments as possible.

Statistics and export

The travel kitty itself is free. If you want statistics and an export of the kitty, both come with Premium.

Whether you call it the holiday fund, the group kitty or simply “the pot”: what matters is that every expense goes in straight away, no matter who paid. With the web link, that works for fellow travellers who have not installed TravelMaster Go too – and for you, everything stays in the trip that also holds the plan and the bookings.

Three moments

How it works on the road.

Arriving at the cottage: link into the group chat

You create the trip and open the travel kitty. You send the web link to your group chat. Anyone who opens it sees the kitty in the browser and can add their own expenses – without an account, without a download.

You enter the deposit for the house as the first expense straight away. That way it is clear from the start who has paid what.

Tuesday, petrol station: Tim does not have the app

Tim did not want a new app. He does not need one: he opens the link on his phone, enters the fuel receipt and puts the phone away again. You see the expense in your travel kitty.

So the kitty stays complete, even if not everyone has the same phone, the same app or the same appetite for technology.

Last evening: settling up without a calculator

Instead of receipts and a calculator, you open the settlement. The app works out who owes whom and suggests as few settlement payments as possible. Nobody has to send money to everybody.

On a cruise it works just the same: you split on-board costs with the same travel kitty.

Frequently asked

Quick answers.

Is the travel fund free?

Yes. The travel kitty with a web link for fellow travellers is part of the free plan. Statistics and an export of the kitty come with Premium for €5.99 a month or €49.99 a year.

Do all fellow travellers have to install the app?

No. Fellow travellers view and add to the shared kitty via a web link, without an account or download. The app works out who owes whom.

Is TravelMaster Go a Splitwise alternative?

For trips, it can be: the travel kitty sits right in the trip, next to the plan, bookings and documents, and fellow travellers only need a web link. According to its provider, Splitwise is designed for shared expenses in many situations, for example with housemates, friends and family.
